    FOUNDING PARTNER, ENGINEERING

    Garry Bhattal is a Founding Partner and Owner of Oshkaabewis Engineering and Consulting. He has worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 20 years, and has been involved in project management, building HVAC design, building systems review, code compliance review, and healthcare design.

    He brings experience in facilitating coordination between departments, external consultants, and clients to ensure that our mechanical designs are energy efficient, cost effective and integrate with the rest of the development.

  • Eladia Smoke

    FOUNDING PARTNER, ENGAGEMENT

    KaaSheGaaBaaWeak | Eladia Smoke is Anishinaabekwe from Obishikokaang | Lac Seul First Nation, with family in Alderville First Nation, Winnipeg, and Toronto. Eladia has been in the building industry since 2002, taught at Laurentian’s McEwen School of Architecture 2016-2022, is a founding member of RAIC’s Indigenous Task Force, and a current member of The International Union of Architects Indigenous Peoples Work Programme. Eladia leads community-based and institutional projects to successful completion, working alongside Indigenous organizations and First Nation communities.

  • Renata Smoke

    FOUNDING PARTNER, CONSULTING

    Renata Smoke is Anishinaabekwe from Obishikokaang | Lac Seul First Nation, with family roots in Alderville First Nation, Winnipeg, and Toronto. She is a Founding Partner of Oshkaabewis, specializing in Engagement and Consulting work. She has worked in various roles through her career, including a Geologist, a Consultant, and a Negotiation and Engagement Associate.

    She brings an extensive background in Indigenous governance, environmental policy, risk assessment, consultation, and negotiation. Renata has worked with communities and resource development companies to discover mutually beneficial synergies. Renata regularly prepares a variety of tools to support collaboration, from negotiation and liaison strategy to achieve alignment between Indigenous nations and resource development proponents to complete community engagement strategy with tools, event facilitation, implementation, and summary reports.

    Stephanie Lamarche

    OFFICE MANAGER

    Stephanie joins Oshkaabewis Engineering and Consulting Inc. with 5 years of Office Management and 15 years of Administrative Support experience across diverse industries.

    With this background, she effectively oversees daily operations, manages administrative tasks, coordinates schedules, and cultivates a productive workspace. Her aim is to nurture a positive workplace culture that empowers team members to excel and contribute their utmost.

  • Braeden Elliott

    EIT

    Braeden Elliott is an EIT at Oshkaabewis Engineering and Consulting. He is a recent graduate from the University of Guelph for Mechanical Engineering. Through his studies he focused on sustainable energy resources and design. He has worked as a Mechanical Designer through his co-op terms for 16 months, and has been involved project management, HVAC and plumbing engineering design, building systems review, and code compliance review.

    He brings experience in coordination between departments, external contractors and clients for a seamless integration to ensure all design needs are met. He also brings experience in CAD software, engineering analysis, and software applications to ensure a high level and cost-effective mechanical design.
